How to Host a Seasonal Cacao Ceremony at Home

There’s something magical about gathering around a warm drink, setting intention, and tapping into the heart-opening power of cacao. With seasonal shifts in Australia—from crisp autumn evenings to sunny spring mornings—hosting a ceremony using our premium ceremonial cacao at Creation Cacao can become a ritual your friends, community or family will truly remember. Below is your full blueprint to host a cacao ceremony at home.

    Why a seasonal cacao ceremony?

Nature moves in cycles. Seasonal changes invite us to slow down, reflect and renew. A cacao ceremony aligns beautifully with this: it honours transition, invites connection and creates a shared experience. For example, at the change of seasons, you could invite friends over, brew our cacao, set an intention for the coming season and let everyone settle into the moment.

    What you’ll need

    • A block of our ceremonial cacao (we offer 500 g and 1 kg options) from our shop pageCreation Cacao
    • A kettle, a large vessel to melt cacao (water bath or gentle stove)
    • Cups/mugs (honour the vessel)
    • Optional add-ins: cinnamon, vanilla, a small amount of honey (refer to our recipes in the Recipes section
    • Comfortable space: cushions, low lighting, soft music, perhaps a small altar with seasonal elements (leaves, flowers, shells)
    • A few minutes of quiet before and after served a drink

    Step-by-step guide to the ceremony

    Step A: Preparation (10-15 minutes)

Set your space. Invite participants to arrive, greet each other, and perhaps share a moment of silence or intention.

    Step B: Brew the cacao

Measure approx. 20 g of cacao per person. Melt gently in hot water (not boiling) or plant milk. Use a whisk or blender for a smooth texture.

    Step C: Setting intention

Once everyone has their cup, invite each person to reflect silently or share: “What am I releasing this season? What am I inviting in?”

    Step D: Drinking together

Sip slowly, savour the taste, aroma and warmth. Encourage gentle music, soft vocal tone or guided breath.

    Step E: Integration & sharing

After drinking, allow for five to ten minutes of silence, journaling or sharing. Ask participants: “What did I feel? What did I notice?”

    Step F: Closing

Express gratitude (to cacao, to participants, to the earth). Seal the ritual with a group hug or a collective breath.

    Seasonal themes and variations

    • Autumn (March-May in Australia): Letting go theme. Use leaves, warm spices like cinnamon.
    • Winter (June-Aug): Inner reflection, stillness. Dim lighting, slow music, journal prompts.
    • Spring (Sept-Nov): Rebirth, growth. Fresh flowers, lighter add-ins (vanilla, citrus zest).
    • Summer (Dec-Feb): Flow, connection. Outdoor setting, maybe a cacao mocktail with ice, a chilled drink.

Practical tips for hosts in Australia

    • Keep it simple: you don’t need fancy gear. Good quality cacao + quiet space = magic.
    • Time it right: late afternoon heading into evening often works best (natural transition).
    • Invite respectfully: mention that this is a cacao ritual, not a heavy ceremony. Keep it inclusive.
    • Mention dropping phones: ask for attendees to switch off or to silent mode to honour the space.
    • Provide a “take-away” prompt: perhaps everyone writes a word on a card and takes it home as an intention.
    • Follow up: send a short message the next day, asking how they felt — the after-glow matters.

    Closing thoughts
